What is in a Weston shower
Weston's water comes from Biscayne Aquifer wells, is membrane-softened at the City of Sunrise's Sawgrass plant, and leaves with chlorine and ammonia added as chloramine. Hot water makes the disinfectant easier to smell, and many people describe the water feeling different once it is filtered. Because the water is softened at the plant, hardness is less likely to be the main factor, but a test confirms it for your home.
Factors outside the water
- Long, hot showers.
- Soap and shampoo choices.
- Air conditioning running most of the year.
- Pool time; pool water has its own, much stronger chemistry.
These often matter as much as tap water. Being honest about them helps you decide if a system is worth it.
Options for the water itself
- Whole-home chloramine filtration: treats every shower with enough contact time. Living Water describes its Puronics whole-home systems as removing chloramine and chlorine. See whole-home filtration in Weston.
- Shower-head filters: easy to try, but small media and fast flow limit what they do with chloramine. Check their certification.
- Softening: only if your test shows hardness at your tap.
Kids, guests and multiple bathrooms
Larger Weston homes often have several bathrooms used by different people. A whole-home system treats them all, while shower-head filters need one per shower and their own replacement schedule. That difference matters more than it seems when you count cartridges over a year.
What we do not claim
No water system is a medical treatment, and we cannot promise changes to eczema, psoriasis or any skin condition. Please see a dermatologist for those. What Jorge can do is measure chloramine and hardness at your shower and explain what a system would and would not change.
A practical way to decide
Try a simple comparison before buying anything big: note how your skin and hair feel after a week of shorter, cooler showers with a gentle soap. If the disinfectant smell is still the thing that bothers you most, that points to chloramine filtration. If not, a water system may not be the answer, and Jorge will tell you so.
