What the Town reported
The 2025 report's inorganic contaminants table lists fluoride at 0.77 ppm, sampled in April 2025, against a maximum contaminant level of 4.0. The report's description of the System V reverse osmosis plant lists aeration and disinfection, without a fluoridation step. Its description of the inactive System III plant, written for when that plant runs, still mentions fluoridation; that plant produced no water in 2025.
What Florida law changed
Senate Bill 700, which took effect July 1, 2025, prohibits additives in public water systems that are not used to remove contaminants or improve water quality, which covers additives used for health-related purposes such as fluoride. Utilities across Florida stopped adding fluoride under that law. Naturally occurring fluoride can still show up in test results at low levels.
If another utility serves your Davie address, its own Water Quality Report shows its fluoride results.
How fluoride is reduced at home
- Reverse osmosis is a common method for reducing fluoride in drinking water. Look for an NSF/ANSI 58 listing that includes fluoride for the exact model.
- Standard carbon filters, including most pitchers and refrigerator filters, are generally not designed for fluoride.
- Whole-home systems for chloramine are not fluoride systems.
See under-sink reverse osmosis in Davie for how a drinking-water unit is installed.
Neutral on the debate
Living Waters does not take a position on fluoride for or against. People choose to reduce it, or keep it, for their own reasons. For questions about fluoride and dental health, talk to your dentist or pediatrician. What Jorge can do is show you what is in your water and explain which equipment is designed to change it.
Wells
Private wells in western Davie were never fluoridated by a utility. Any fluoride in well water is natural, and a certified laboratory can measure it if you want an exact number.
