Your water source is the first cost driver
Davie has more variety than most Broward cities. The Town's 2025 report says its utility serves only a portion of the town, and the Town's map shows Sunrise, Cooper City, Hollywood, Broward County, Ferncrest Utilities and a Fort Lauderdale bulk-agreement area serving the rest. Some western properties are on private wells.
- Town of Davie water was produced by reverse osmosis in 2025, so a typical project focuses on chloramine and drinking water.
- Another utility's water may have different hardness or disinfectant levels, which can change the equipment.
- Well water may need several stages, such as iron, sulfur and hardness treatment, which is the widest range of scope.
Home and installation factors
- Number of bathrooms and peak water use.
- Where the main line enters, which on many Davie lots is a long run from the street.
- Whether irrigation and outdoor spigots are bypassed.
- Need for a drain, power or a protective enclosure outside.
- Whether you add an under-sink RO faucet in the kitchen.
What an itemized quote should list
- The exact equipment model and what it is designed to treat.
- Installation labor and materials, including bypass valves.
- Any permit, if required for your setup.
- Replacement filters, media or salt, and how often.
- Warranty terms and what service visits include.

Ownership costs to ask about
The purchase is only part of the picture. Ask how often media or filters are replaced, whether the system uses salt or electricity, how much water it sends to drain, and what a service visit includes. On a well, ask how often the water should be re-tested; the Florida Department of Health recommends testing private wells for bacteria and nitrate at least once a year.
Davie situations that change the scope
- Acreage with a barn or guest house: treating one building or several, and where the well or meter feeds each, changes the equipment list.
- Only drinking water wanted: an under-sink RO unit is a much smaller project than a whole-home system.
- A business on the University Drive corridor: commercial softening is sized from daily use, not bathrooms.
