Most quotes in the village fall into one of these three rows. A few homes need two of them, such as county water in the house and an iron-laden irrigation well outside, and those are best quoted together so the equipment does not overlap.
Palmetto Bay home factors
- Lot and house size. Larger homes need higher flow capacity for chloramine contact time.
- Irrigation tee. Where county water feeds sprinklers, the system usually goes after the tee.
- Main line location, and whether it is accessible.
- Existing well equipment that can be reused, bypassed or removed after a switch to county water.
- Power and drain for systems that need them.
Outdoor features count too. Homes with pool equipment, outdoor showers or a summer kitchen may have plumbing that branches off before the main line reaches the house, and the quote should be clear about which of those points will receive filtered water and which will not. Ask for a simple sketch if it is not obvious.
If your street just got a water main
WASD has been installing new mains in parts of the village, including SW 141 Terrace and SW 178 Street and Terrace in mid-2026. Connecting a home is its own project with WASD and permit steps, separate from any filtration. Once you are on county water, the filtration question changes from well treatment to chloramine, which often simplifies the equipment.
What a quote should list
- Exact system and model, with certifications for each claim.
- Installation scope: bypass, fittings, any permits.
- Media or filter replacement schedule.
- Warranty in writing.
