System drivers
- Stages, including carbon suited to chloramine.
- Alkaline remineralizing stage.
- Tank or tankless design; see tankless vs. tank RO.
- Specific certified claims you need from your lab report, which narrow the model choice.
The model choice matters most on a well: if your lab report shows something you want reduced, the RO's certification has to name it, and that can narrow the options. On county water, the main requirement is carbon that handles chloramine well.
Kitchen and house drivers
- Faucet hole: existing, or drilled in stone.
- Drain connection.
- Fridge, ice maker or coffee machine lines and their routes.
- Large kitchens with islands, prep sinks or butler's pantries.
- Second units for a guest house or bar, only if you really drink there.
Each additional point of use adds tubing, fittings and labor. One system at the main sink with a fridge line covers most families; Jorge will tell you if a second unit really earns its place.
On a well
Iron and hardness shorten membrane life, so they are treated first. The Village recommends regular well testing for coliform bacteria, nitrates, TDS and pH, and if your lab report shows a contaminant you want reduced, the RO's NSF/ANSI 58 listing must name it. Bacteria are addressed separately. All of that shapes the quote; see well water in Pinecrest.
Ask whether the pretreatment is quoted with the RO or separately, so you can compare like with like.Ongoing costs to ask about
Ask for a written schedule for prefilters, carbon, membrane and post-filter, with prices, and how you will know they are due. On chloramine water the carbon works harder; on well water, pretreatment protects the membrane. See RO filter replacement cost and RO operating costs.
Versus bottled water
Put your real monthly bottled water spending into the bottled water vs. RO calculator and compare it with the filter schedule.
Many households find that the comparison is less about money than about not carrying cases of water from the store.Get your quote
A fair quote lists the exact model and its NSF/ANSI 58 listing, installation scope, filter schedule and warranty. Living Water offers financing through its financing partners; you apply with a credit application, and a co-applicant can apply with you. Call, text or WhatsApp Jorge at (305) 793-5974.
