Scope by source
| Situation | Typical scope | Cost moves with |
|---|---|---|
| WASD county water | Whole-home chloramine system, RO at the kitchen | Home size, peak flow, plumbing access |
| Private drinking well | Several stages from the lab and in-home tests | Iron, hardness, odor, well output, bacteria decision |
| Newly connected to WASD | Remove or bypass well equipment, add chloramine treatment | What is already installed |
| Irrigation well staining | Iron treatment on the sprinkler line | Iron level, pump flow |
Pinecrest home factors
- House size and bathrooms, which set flow capacity for chloramine contact time.
- Service line and meter: WASD sizes the meter by home size when you connect, and the main line may be long on a big lot.
- Outbuildings: guest houses, cabanas, pool baths.
- Irrigation tee location on county-fed sprinklers.
- Power and drain near the equipment.
A home that recently connected to county water may need old equipment removed or bypassed before new equipment goes in. That work belongs on the quote as its own line, so you can see what you are paying for.
Connection costs are a separate project
If your home sits on one of the mains the Village built and conveyed to WASD, connecting involves WASD account and meter fees, a Village plumbing permit, a licensed plumber, a final inspection, and Florida Department of Health approval to abandon or convert the well. Those are not filtration costs, and a filtration quote should not mix them in. Ask WASD and the Village for those figures directly; the Village's Building and Planning line is 305-234-2121.
What a quote should list
- Exact equipment and models, with the certification behind each claim.
- Installation scope, including removal of any old equipment.
- Media and filter replacement schedule.
- Warranty in writing.
See why quotes differ and the annual cost of owning a whole-home filter.
Ask, too, whether the price includes removing old equipment and hauling it away, and whether any permit is expected for your scope.
