Who serves your address
Pembroke Park covers about 1.7 square miles in Broward County's municipal boundary data. When that boundary is laid over the county's water service area map, nearly all of the town falls inside WWS District 3BC. A small area along the town's edge falls inside the City of Hallandale Beach's service area. Your water bill settles it:
- Bill from Broward County WWS: you are on District 3BC. Customer service 954-831-3250.
- Bill from the City of Hallandale Beach: use Hallandale Beach's own Water Quality Report. Its customer service line in the county's data is 954-457-1600.
How the water is made
Hollywood's 2025 Annual Drinking Water Quality Report explains that the city's wells draw from two aquifers. The shallow Biscayne Aquifer yields fresh water that is lime-softened and membrane-filtered. The deeper Floridan Aquifer yields brackish water that is treated with reverse osmosis. Water from both is needed to meet demand, and both are disinfected with chloramines before leaving the plant. From there, Broward County carries it through 3BC to Pembroke Park.
The 2025 state source water assessment for Hollywood's wells, which the county cites for 3A and 3BC, identified 16 potential sources of contamination with low to moderate susceptibility levels. These assessments describe nearby activities that could affect a wellfield; they are not test results. Hollywood's Water Quality Division (954-921-3414) can provide the details, and the results are posted on the state's Source Water Assessment and Protection Program website.
District 3BC in the county's 2025 report
| Measure | 3BC result | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Chlorine (chloramine residual) | 3.1 ppm | 4.0 ppm |
| Fluoride | 0.12 ppm | 4 ppm |
| Sodium | 33.5 ppm | 160 ppm |
| HAA5 | 14.9 ppb | 60 ppb |
| TTHM | 14.2 ppb | 80 ppb |
| Lead, 90th percentile | 1.00 ppb, no sites over | 15 ppb action level |
| Copper, 90th percentile | 0.0451 ppm | 1.3 ppm action level |
The county also says its service line inventory found only non-lead service lines.
What this means at home
- Chloramine is the most noticeable thing in the water. See chloramine filters.
- Hardness is reduced at the plant, so a softener is often unnecessary. See softener vs. filter.
- Fluoride is no longer added; Hollywood ended it on July 1, 2025. See fluoride filters.
- Your own plumbing and water heater shape what comes out of the tap more than most people expect.
Two numbers in that table are worth a second look for comfort reasons rather than safety ones. The chloramine residual explains the pool-like smell some people notice. The sodium figure, 33.5 ppm, is useful if someone in your home tracks sodium for dietary reasons; your doctor can tell you whether it matters for you. Everything else in the 3BC column was reported without a violation.
What fits a Pembroke Park home or business
- House: a whole-home city water system for chloramine at every tap, plus under-sink alkaline RO if you want it.
- Manufactured home or apartment: under-sink RO, which needs no main-line work.
- Business: an ion-exchange softening plant where equipment needs it and a test supports it; drinking water RO for staff and customers. See water softeners.
- Property with a well: a well water system configured from the well's test.
Jorge's rule of thumb is simple: treat what a test shows and what you notice, nothing more. In Pembroke Park, that usually means chloramine filtration or better drinking water, and rarely a softener on county water.
